A Bournemouth Holiday: The Quick Guide

If you are after a pleasant seaside holiday in the UK then why not try a Bournemouth holiday. I visited Bournemouth last year with my family and had a fantastic time.

Having been there a couple of times in my childhood, I had fond memories of the area and the beach itself, however, I wasn’t sure if these were just misty eyed memories and if our holiday was going to live up to the idea of the holiday I was expecting. It didn’t disappoint.

Bournemouth is still a fantastic place for a family holiday. The whole town is really set up for enjoying the sunshine with verandas and balconies everywhere you look. Beach shops selling surf gear and water sports equipment also dot the town and beach front area. With a climate that is more like northern France than Britain, it’s a fantastic place to spend a ‘staycation’.

Bournemouth is ideal for kids and the whole beach and sea front hark back to grander Victorian days. The pier juts out into the sea and is a great place for a stroll. About a mile down the coast, Boscombe pier has recently been refurbished and is peppered with men fishing and people watching the surfers that are so prevalent in this area.

The holiday atmosphere continues into the night and evenings are usually pleasant and balmy. Bournemouth Lower Gardens are a nice place to spend your day and at night, the Candle Illuminations event allows kids and adults alike to light candles or wander around with all manner of lights or torches. It makes for a great atmosphere. During the day there is crazy golf, rides and attractions for children and you can even take a trip up into the sky in a hot air balloon known as the Bournemouth Eye that is tethered to the ground.
