Thanks to the huge diversity of the landscape in the Languedoc Roussillon France this region is perfect for a golf holiday and throws up some very interesting locations. Each of the five departments of the Languedoc, that is to say the Aude, Pyrenees Orientales, Herault, Gard and Lozere, has a very different distinctive terrain leading to some inovative golf courses.
There are fifteen courses to choose from and thirteen of these clubs are participating in a golf pass scheme. Golfers who want to travel around the region playing on different courses, and even those who want to stay put and just play one or two, can purchase a golf pass allowing them to play five rounds for a fixed price. During high season, May through September, you can purchase five rounds for 250 euros and during the rest of the year it is possible to take three rounds for 120 euros.
In particular I would recommend checking out the international golf course at Cap d Agde. This beautiful 18 hole course designed by Ronald Freem is a delight to play. Well tended and beautifully designed it has the added benefit of being just a stones throw from the beaches of the Mediterranean. There are plenty of well priced hotels here as well as one right by the course so there’s a great opportunity to bring the whole family and while they are enjoying the beach you can enjoy a few rounds of golf. There’s a great restaurant here as well which is definitely the place for some great food after you’ve worked up and appetite.
Cap d’Agde is a bustling holiday resort with plenty to do both day and night. It is easily accessible by car and plane with two major airports nearby, Beziers and Montpellier, and a main motorway route serving the region.
See you on the greens!
