Koh Phangan is a beautiful island located in the Southeast region of the Gulf of Thailand which has an area of 168 square kilometers. It is situated between two other islands called Koh Samui in the South and Koh Tao in the North. It is also known as the island of coconut trees and is famous for its Full Moon Parties.
Long before full moon parties existed, local and foreign tourists flocked this island because of its natural beauty and dense jungles. The island is also known for its magnificent beaches which boast of white sands and sky-blue seas where tourists love to go swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
One of the best beaches on this island is Haad Rin. This beach is also the most popular because it is where the Koh Phangan Full Moon Party is held every month. It consists of two beaches on each side of the corner of the island. The first one is the Haad Rin Nok or the sunrise beach which is lined with restaurants and bars and where people usually swim and snorkel. The other beach is Haad Rin Nai or the sunset side which is where the pier is located. The majority of the bungalows and huts are located in this area.
Another popular beach is Thong Nai Pan which is located on the northeast coast of the island. It has white sand and clear water and includes two beach resorts, the Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi and Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai. Thong Nai Pan Noi is a more spacious beach with lots of bungalows while Thong Nai Pan Yai is a more quiet place with an old school Koh Phangan vibe. These are two of the most beautiful beaches on the island which are great for swimming and unwinding.
About 5 km off the road to Thong Nai Pan lies the Haad Sadet beach which is a favorite spot of Thailand’s royalty. The beach lies at the mouth of the waterfall named Than Sadet or Royal Stream. It is a small and quiet beach which is a great place to relax away from the big crowds.
While in Koh Phangan, guests can truly enjoy and marvel at the beauty of nature. It’s a place far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where one can truly feel the serenity and tranquility the island has to offer.
