Volcano boarding? Yes, we do mean exactly that. Sliding down the black slopes of Cerro Negro volcano on a board at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. This is high intensity fun and perfect for the adventure enthusiast.
But before you plunge, stop to take in the views – from the summit you can see the sweep of volcanoes that make up the Maribos range – and peek into the smoldering crater. Then, hold your breath, and fly down the mountain. Mojito’s are on the house at the other end!

Here are the details:
The tour starts in Leon and runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a start time of 1pm. Cerro Negro is 40 minutes drive from Leon, followed by a 45 minute hike to the top of the volcano. All equipment including boards and safety suits are provided and there’s time for a practice run before you take the plunge.
